Boyz2Men

It's fun!  It's live!  It's real!  It's Boyz2Men ... every 1st and 3rd Sunday at the Decker middle school gymnasium, from 5pm-7pm.  It's group-based mentoring ... revinvented!  Middle school boys, high school boys and adult male mentors play basketball, football, other activities and then partner in groups to discuss real issues and apply real skills so we move from Boys to Men.

Project H.O.P.E.

LifeChangers is about HOPE—Helping Overcome Problems and Experiences by providing conflict resolutions skills for the family (5th graders and up—with their parents) with a focus on attendance improvement, truancy reduction, drop-out prevention, attitude improvement, behavior correction and possible deferred adjudication in truancy court. Weekly sessions include

  • training in forgiveness, communication, conflict resolution, peace-keeping, anger management, truancy and making right choices
  • FREE meal, FREE childcare and FREE family care support—socially, emotionally, mentally and spiritually
  • FREE student and family camps—gaining refreshment, encouragement, and more life skills.
  • mentoring for every student participant

The weekly program occurs at Burnet middle school (8401 Hathaway Drive). The dates and times are: Tuesdays, 6pm-8pm, in the school cafeteria, 1/24 (CLASSES OPEN).

A Saturday attendance recovery program is also offered 1st and 3rd Saturdays at Burnet middle school, 8am-12pm, in the school gymnasium. This program provides training in academic readiness, behavior modification, and character development. Participating students must be referred from their school by the Tuesday before the program and will be eligible for attendance recovery due to unexcused absences.
